I am not exactly a fan. (Un)fortunately it’s what works best for me and my near family and friends.

Skype to me is JAP (Just Another Protocol), which integrates very nicely with Pidgin, letting me use things like OTR over its network. That and more.

I’ll elaborate later on.

I’d love to know why you’re such Skype fan. As an Free software developer, and Ubuntero, I would think you’d value things like Freedom and privacy – values that are in stark contrast to Skype.

It’s good for what it does, but I need voice and video, and skype is absolutely horrible.

(although it has its quirks too)
