1. Get a serial number by registering at http://register.vmware.com/content/registration.html
2. Add the ” commercial ” repository to your Ubuntu 7.04 install.
3. Install the vmware-server packager. This may require uninstalling previously installed vmware software, including manually deleting the contents of /etc/vmware -remember backups are your friends when experimenting
4. Start the access console by going to Applications > System Tools > VMWare Server Console in the menus
5. Have fun

Taltan: Pour rapported un bug, il faut utiliser le site Launchpad.net, après y avoir ouvert un compte. Il y a une peu d’informations en français sur http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/launchpad/malone

Le QA Team c’est l’équipe de rapporteurs de bugs qui peuvent changer les priorités, confirmer, etc. des rapports de bugs. On y accède après avoir rapporté plusieurs bugs dont les rapports sont examinés par d’autres membres du QA et jugés assez bon pour assurer l’amélioration de la qualité d’Ubunt… je simplifie un peu mais c’est à peu près le principe. wattazoum: en fait lors d’ une installation manuelle on doit se préocuper de ces mises à jour et refaire la procédure à chacune d’elles. Lors d’une installation “pacakgee” c’est la responsabilité de VMware de tenir ses pacakge à jour. C’est tout à leur intérêt de le faire, un peu comme pour nVidia.

taltan: avez-vous fait un rapport de bug ? Je pourrais le confirmer rapidement car je suis dans le Q&A Team aussi.

tenshu: En fait qemu est déjà fonctionnel sur Feisty (package standard “qemu”, par contre pour kq emu le module d’accélélation il faut une installation assistée du module correspondant), Virtual Box aussi – voir: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads .

Évidemment on préférait que ce soit libre
Mais tout ce qui peut aider linux a devenir incontournable est bon a prendre.
